China adjusts the scale of new photovoltaic power station construction
Beijing, October 7th (Xinhua) -- The National Energy Administration recently issued a notice to expand the construction scale of new photovoltaic power stations by 5.3 million kilowatts. Encourage renewable energy pilot cities and green energy pilot counties with good conditions for the construction of photovoltaic power stations, as well as cities/counties that have completed their original construction plans or actively innovated in photovoltaic development, to build large-scale photovoltaic power stations.

According to the National Energy Administration, this adjustment is based on the construction and operation of photovoltaic power stations in the first six months of this year, as well as the demand for photovoltaic power stations. They have adjusted the scale of photovoltaic power plant construction in areas such as Inner Mongolia, Hebei, and Xijiang that require increased scale this year.

The Notice requires that provincial and municipal energy administrative departments should coordinate with power grid companies in a timely manner to solve problems related to power grid construction. In principle, all projects should commence in 2015 and be completed and connected to the grid before June 30, 2016. In addition, power grid companies should formulate relevant power grid construction plans as soon as possible, promote power grid transformation, and provide grid connection services for photovoltaic power generation projects.

Prior to this, the National Energy Administration issued a notice in March on the implementation plan for the construction of photovoltaic power stations in 2015, stating that the scale of newly built photovoltaic power stations in China should reach 17.8 million kilowatts in 2015. The total construction scale of newly built centralized and distributed photovoltaic power stations in various regions in 2015 shall not exceed the scale growth target set in the above notice. Projects within this scope are eligible for subsidies from the National Renewable Energy Fund.
